Organizational Behaviour: Understand individual differences (i.e., personality, self-esteem, etc.) and how these differences predict our individual behaviors (within the workplace). In the workplace, we often use personality testing to decide who to select, who to promote, or who to train. Personality testing can be controversial. This is typical because some of the tests have proven to be unreliable or invalid. Furthermore, there are concerns about how we use the results. Personality testing is used to categorize people and in some ways, these categorizations can have detrimental impacts especially if the test is not valid. On the other hand, perhaps knowing more about our own personality and that of our colleagues provides us the opportunity to change our workplaces so all personality traits are set up for success.
