I don’t know how to handle this Law question and need guidance. Please respond to my classmate in about 200 words. Please do include a reference. No plagiarism. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was formed in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Before the attacks, many local and state law enforcement agencies had not experienced terror related incidents. The DHS directed and coordinated efforts with state and local agencies to improve terrorism preparedness. These agencies commenced efforts to create and maintain response plans, shift personnel to engage in emergency response planning, and designate funds to focus on terrorism preparedness. Much of the support planning was focused on training and equipment (Riley, n.d.). The most important approach to any changes and improvements is training. Leadership and personnel must be mindful of the risks and understand the most efficient ways to combat them. Another advantage that training provides is awareness. Awareness of issues helps to perceive signs of terrorism and prevent attacks. Being proactive and preventing global terrorism is as important as reacting to events. According to “U.S. Department Of Homeland Security”(2021), “Protecting the American people from terrorists threats is the reason the Department of Homeland Security was created, and remains their highest priority.” Terrorism changes and evolves as the world does. Continuous training is needed to stay informed on new tactics used by terrorists.References:Riley, K. J. (n.d.).
