This needs to receive a 90% or above. Here are 2 attachments: 1 is the assignment completed poorly but provides information to build from and the second is the template in which this assignment needs to fit into. Reference material: Crossan, M.M., Rouse, M.J., Rowe, W.G. and Maurer, C. (2015) Strategic Analysis and Action. (9th edition), Toronto: Pearson. ISA: Description and Assessment of the Strategy of the Chosen Organizational Unit: The Canadian Registration Authority – Cybersecurity and Sales Unit Instruction: Use the template provided to complete this assignment. As you answer the questions, take into careful consideration the percentage allocated to each of the assigned questions in that template. Page limit: 2.5 pages, excluding diagrams (an organizational chart is a diagram) Section 1: Description of the Organizational Unit and its Context 1. Provide a basic description of your chosen organizational unit including at a minimum the following information: the name of the organizational unit you will analyze; its location(s); size (annual budget or revenues, number of employees, etc.); the core business of this organizational unit; the name of the organization of which it is a part (if applicable), the core business of that organization, and the unit’s size relative to that organization; major competitors, and some idea of their size relative to your organizational unit; and other details you believe are relevant (optional). 2. Describe the key activities and responsibilities of your chosen organizational unit, and how those relate to the broader organization. 3. Briefly describe the following: i. How your chosen unit is organized, including how it fits into the parent company/parent organization (if applicable), including a simple (key word!) organization chart with reporting relationships clearly marked and your own position clearly marked. Please note: you do not need to provide the ‘official’ organization chart – a clear and simple hand-drawn version is just fine. The point is to help to understand how the organization is structured and where you and your unit fit into this organization. Please do not submit enormous complex multi-page charts. ii. Your position in this unit/relationship to this unit, including your own major activities and responsibilities. 4. Briefly describe other elements you believe to be important as base information for this assignment (optional). Section 2: Description of the Strategy of your Organizational Unit Describe and assess the existing strategy of your chosen organizational unit, as presented in Chapter 2 of the Strategic Analysis and Action textbook; not “what the strategy should be”, but what the strategy is. In most organizations/sub-units the strategy is not clearly articulated or even discussed – so it’s your task to discover and describe the strategy of your chosen unit. (In fact, many candidates find this to be one of the most challenging parts of the entire ISA.) 5. Describe the four elements of the organizational unit’s current strategy. You may find the “nine building blocks” described in the book Business Model Generation to be a helpful complement to the Strategic Analysis and Action text in answering this question. 6. How do these elements support/reinforce each other (or not)? What are the implications of this alignment/coherence (or lack thereof)? 7. If the head of your organization (the Minister/Deputy Minister, CEO, etc.) asked for your own frank and authentic comments on the unit’s current strategy, what would your response be? (This is your opportunity to discuss your views on what the strategy should be.) 8. Describe your objectives for this ISA: i. Learning objectives: What do you intend to learn and apply from this two-part ISA? ii. Career objectives: How will you use this two-part ISA to benefit your current job and future career? Grading rubric: Sections A through E about 20% of grade of your ISA 1: Provided all relevant and required information in a comprehensive manner, to serve as the foundation for this ISA. F. Describe each of components of the organizational unit’s strategy. – about 30% of the grade of your ISA 1: Described all of the 4 components of the strategy – goals, value proposition, core activities, and products / markets — in a comprehensive and detailed manner, making excellent and appropriate use of the course material, in particular CRRM Chapter 2. G. Assess the alignment /coherence of these components (or not), and the implications – about 20% of grade of your ISA: Assessed the alignment / coherence among all of the 4 components of strategy; whether they reinforce each other or not; and the implications thereof; all in a comprehensive and detailed manner, making excellent and appropriate use of the course material, in particular CRRM Chapter 2. H. If the head of your organization asked for your frank and authentic comments, what would your response be? – about 15% of the grade of your ISA 1 Thoughtful and insightful comments, excellent use of your own ISA analysis, in a comprehensive and detailed manner, making excellent and appropriate use of the course materials. I. Your Objectives for the 2-part ISA:? – about 15% of the grade of your ISA 1 i. Learning Objectives – to learn and apply from this 2- part ISA? ii. Career Objectives – to benefit your current job and future career Thoughtful and insightful description of your intentions for ISA — to learn and apply from this ISA (learning objectives), and to benefit your current job and future career (career objectives) — in a comprehensive and detailed manner, making excellent and appropriate use of your own ISA 1 and of the relevant course materials. 2. Professionalism of communication and presentation of the ISA 1 Purpose of assessing Professionalism of communication and presentation of the document: to ensure that the communication of the content of the document facilitates and supports the reader’s understanding and appreciation of that content. Clarity of writing; spelling and grammar; formatting of the document as per the Style Guidelines in syllabus. The document is clearly written, fulfills the Style Guidelines in the syllabus, and is generally free from spelling and grammatical errors. Here is the feedback on the original assignment that needs to be applied to the new version: This is a good start with significant unrealized potential in order to take full advantage of this opportunity of the ISAs. My strong sense is that you ran out of time, as there is some solid description and analysis in parts of your ISA 1 – parts of section F and G for example — which would have benefited your overall ISA 1, i.e. your description and assessment of CIRA’s strategy — given another ‘good push’ i.e. a further round of input and revision. (Your sections are not labeled correctly in your ISA 1 – “E” is in fact “F”, etc.) While the Table on p. 2 could have been helpful analytical framing for you to structure section F, in this case it simply took up valuable and limited ‘space’; and this meant that while G and H combined are 30% of your ISA 1 (as clearly indicated in the template), these sections G and H combined are less than 6 lines long. Please pay careful attention to the deliberate weighting of each part of your ISA 1 (and ISA 2) – those weights are intended to guide you in terms of the relative importance of each section of both of these deliverables. Please remember that as clearly stated in the syllabus, this grade on ISA 1 is a ‘feedback grade’. Recognizing the time and energy required to do so, want to provide the opportunity to you to revise and resubmit ISA 1, especially to benefit your objectives as well outlined in (I) of ISA 1. You are welcome to revise and resubmit your ISA 1 when you submit your ISA 2, and I will review this revised version of ISA 1 and assign a revised grade as appropriate. If/when you do so, please clearly highlight in yellow each of the aspects of your v1 – ISA 1 you have changed in your v2 – ISA 1. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.
